Our Approach
Our Research Approach
The Polinvest research desk produces analysis that is directly connected to our investment and lending activity. We are not writing academic papers, we are producing intelligence that helps us make better investment decisions, that helps our clients understand the markets where they operate, and that helps our investors monitor the environments where our capital is deployed. Our research is grounded in primary data, direct market contacts, and our own transaction experience. We supplement this with analysis of publicly available data sources, including central bank statistics, development institution reports, and sector-specific databases.
Our Commitment
Who Our Research Is For
Our research is primarily produced for the benefit of our clients, co-investors, and lender partners. We share selected publications publicly to demonstrate our analytical capability and our commitment to informed investment in the markets we cover. Subscribers to our research programme receive the full suite of publications, including proprietary data reports and detailed sector assessments that are not published publicly.

Research Quality
The Analytical Foundation of Our Investment Decisions
Our research is not produced in isolation from our investment activity. Every research note we produce is informed by what we are seeing in our transaction pipeline, the sectors where we are originating deal flow, the pricing and structure of the facilities we are arranging, and the market dynamics that are affecting the availability and cost of capital in each of our target markets. This connection between research and practice is what gives our analysis its practical relevance and distinguishes it from the more theoretical output of research teams that are not actively transacting in the same markets.
We are selective about what we publish and when. A research note published before sufficient analysis has been done is worse than no research at all, it creates a false sense of certainty and can mislead clients and investors into making decisions based on incomplete or incorrect information. We publish when we have something genuinely useful to say, when our analysis is sufficiently complete, and when the timing is such that publication serves the interests of our readers. We would rather publish one high-quality note per quarter than twelve mediocre ones.
Our data sources are a combination of public and proprietary. Public sources include central bank statistics, development institution databases, sector-specific trade associations, and government reports. Proprietary sources include our own transaction data, the intelligence we gather through our relationships with DFIs and institutional investors, and the primary research conducted by our in-house team through field visits, management interviews, and sector specialist consultations. The combination of these sources gives us a genuinely differentiated information base that is difficult for outsiders to replicate.
Research Access
How to Engage With Our Research
Our research is shared through multiple channels depending on the type of publication and the intended audience. Market intelligence notes are shared directly with registered subscribers via email and are posted to the Investor Portal for portal users. Data reports are shared with institutional counterparties under NDA where the underlying data is proprietary. Event announcements and summaries are posted on this website and shared on our professional network channels. Access to the full suite of publications requires subscription, which is available as part of our investor onboarding process.
We welcome feedback on our research from clients, investors, and counterparties. Investment analysis is stronger when it is challenged, and we have received valuable pushback from clients who had direct market experience that contradicted our published conclusions. When feedback leads us to revise our analysis, we publish a correction or update clearly and promptly. We would rather acknowledge an error quickly than maintain a mistaken position for the sake of appearing consistent.
Our research team is available for briefing calls with institutional counterparties who want to discuss our published analysis in more detail. These calls are an opportunity to go beyond the written summary, discuss the data behind our conclusions, and explore the implications for specific portfolios or investment mandates. We treat these calls as a genuine dialogue, we are as interested in what clients are seeing in the market as in sharing our own conclusions, and we use the intelligence gathered to inform future research topics.
